Year 4 Class Trip
On Wednesday 29 June Year 4 enjoyed a trip to Canterbury Cathedral. We had a costume tour of the Cathedral, learning all about the life and death of St Thomas Beckett and spotted lots of ancient graffiti on the Cathedral walls. Did you know that in medieval times graffiti was an acceptable practice, and was used as a sign that people had been on a pilgrimage? We spotted crosses, daggers, dates, initials and even some more elaborate graffiti in the crypt of Thomas Beckett on horseback returning from exile!
We spent time creating our own pilgrim badges, some stained-glass window designs and a writing out our own certificates with a quill pen. It was such a fun and informative day and has really bought to life all of our learning about pilgrimage this term!
