Maths Parent Workshop
On Monday 21st January, we hosted a 'How to support your child in Maths' workshop, showing parents and carers common misconceptions children may get in different mathematical areas and how they could address these at home.
We also reiterated the importance of learning key addition, subtraction and number facts and shared a range of approaches to teach times tables at home.
Number facts are the basis of each area of mathematics and can really support children's deepened understanding of tricky concepts, if the basic skills are there first. At the end of the workshop, support prompts were handed out for every year group, detailing key methods they may use in that year as well as appropriate mathematical vocabulary for a child at that stage.
These can be found on the Maths page on the website for all parents and carers to access.
It was a very successful event and was attended by lots of our Kings Hill families. We look forward to the next one.
