Trip to Wingham
Years 1 and 2 had a fab, if a little damp, time at the wildlife park on Tuesday.
Year 2 went off to see all of the many animals including the arctic wolves we have been learning about. This was really exciting! Getting a chance to see these animals in real life was wonderful and lots of us were surprised by how large they were!
Year 1 started their day by looking at the meerkats, lemurs, giraffes and even saw a sleeping lion! They learned that the lion had been rescued by Wingham because it was being used by a circus. During the morning Shark class had a talk on animal diets and looked at different skulls, teeth and claws of different animals. They were able to use their knowledge on carnivores, herbivores and omnivores to investigate the teeth and skulls to try and work out which animal it belonged to!
After this, they had some play dough poo samples and had to be detectives to figure out if the poo belonged to a carnivore, herbivore or omnivore. If it had hair in it, the animal was a carnivore, if it had grass in it, the animal was a herbivore. It was so much fun!
In the afternoon, everyone watched the penguins being fed and saw a very cheeky seagull trying to get some too!
We all had a great time at Wingham!
